Wow. Just Wow.
I never tire of seeing these types of imagery.
The Wall Street Journal is running a very interesting article on how after 200 years or so a coded message in a letter from Thomas Jefferson’s correspondence has been deciphered.
The message was sent to Jefferson by his friend Robert Patterson, a mathematical professor at the University of Pennsylvania and one of Jeffersons friends he corresponded with quite frequently.
Hackers stole plans for Joint Strike Fighter II. The Swedish paper ”Ny Teknik” (mainly an engineering and technology news paper) reports today that what seems to be Chinese hackers have broken into the most secret parts of Pentagon and stolen the secret plans of the Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.
The Wall Street Journal cites that the hacks were performed during 2007 and 2008 and several terbytes of data where stolen. The attacks came through a supplier in Turkey via the Lockheed facility there.
The american defense forces are now taking measures to increase their IT security.
The cost of developing the JSF is one of the most prestigious and expensive projects undertaken and the stolen data could possibly be used by someone to analyze the JSF for its weaknesses and develop an effective defense against it.
In the media lately we have been told that CIA have destroyed tapes of violoent interrogations after the American Civli Liberties Union (ACLU) decided to go ahead and press charges against the intelligence agency in a court in New York.
US temporary minister of justice, Mr. Lev Dassin, writes about the video tapes in a letter to the judge in charge of the case. Earlier the CIA only admitted to destroying a few tapes but now it seems that over 90 tapes have been destroyed.
According to the New York Times the tapes shows interrogations of Abu Zubaydah, suspected member of the al-Qaida and Abdel Rahim al-Nashiri suspected to be involved in the bombing of the warship USS Cole outside Yemen in the year 2000 when 17 able bodies seamen died as a result.
Dassin have now asked the court of law to order CIA to produce when documentation of the case can be turned over to the court.
I wonder if we will ever know what happened to the Egyptian people the CIA picked up here at Bromma in Stockholm in 2001 and taken away to some suiteable country well clear of American and European laws and order. I doubt they will ever be seen again in any official capacity or else.
It was just before sun-set one beautiful evening in April when we had been driving down the pacific coastline from San Franscisco and we stopped at the beach in Carmel to sit together and view the sunset before we went to a local pub and had a beatiful steak dinner.
As we were sitting there, watching the sun slowly set into a rather calm pacific, this man an his dog came for a walk on the beach. The stopped and played for a while, the man throwing sticks and the dog fetching and it was clear that they had known eachother for a very long time.
I managed to take this photograph which I really like, the captures the mood at this time on the beach very well in my opinion.
